In the beginning......
Our love for alpacas started on December 1, 2013 when we got 5 female suri alpacas from Crownstone Alpacas; Kallista, Oakleigh, Sunflower, Harley, and Nikki. Unlike the fluffy teddy bear look of the huacaya alpaca, the fiber of the suri alpaca has a shiny luster and grows in long twists that fall along the body. The girls adjusted quickly to their new home but it took Susannah (our mule) a little bit longer to accept that they were staying! The kids absolutely love feeding the alpacas treats and taking them for walks. Although they do not really like to be touched, they are very friendly and curious.
